The ECW Diocesan Board meets on the fourth Monday of the
month at 10 am at the Diocesan Resource Center except in May (UTO Ingathering),
June(Marjorie’s), July, August and November (Annual Meeting).
The Annual Meeting, November 2011, was held at the
Cathedral of St.John. At the meeting The
Distinguished Woman for 2012 was presented to Modesta Pellot. She will attend Triennial in 2012, all
expenses paid. Barbara Devens, Child
Life Specialist, was the guest speaker.
She spoke of her time in Monrovia, Liberia.
The December meeting was held at
the Providence Art Club followed by a delicious luncheon. The guest speaker was Ann McCarthy who spoke
about Health Ministry Inreach in churches.
Items for the Seamen’s Institute were collected.
The
spring United Thank Offering Ingathering was held on May 19th at
St.David’s on the Hill in Cranston. The
Reverend Joyce Penfield came and brought a representative of “The Blessing Way”
to speak.
On May 3rd ten people
from the board attended the Diocese of Connecticut’s annual meeting.
The
Reverend Casey Shobe asked ECW to help count ballots for the election of the
new bishop at St.Paul’s Pawtucket on June 2nd. In addition the ECW staffed the registration
for the Walk-About on May 12th.
In June
two educational grants were awarded: one to Becky Binns and one to the Reverend
Susan Wrathall.
On
November 8th the Annual Meeting was held at St.Martin’s Church in
Providence. Bishop Wolf was Celebrant;
Bishop-elect Nicholas Knisely presented the Sermon and Reverend Meaghan Kelly
was guest speaker at the luncheon.
On
October 13th the ECW members attended the Province I Annual Meeting
at the Cathedral in Springfield, Massachusetts.
The
